GRASS TEKI (Cyperus Rotundus)

Description of plants:
Grass roots Teki live throughout the year with a height reaching 10 to 75 cm. Typically these plants grow wild in the garden, in the fields and in other places until at an altitude of 1000 m above sea level. The plant is easily identified because the flowers brownish green, located at the end of the stem with three buds helmet yellow stamens clear, forming fasiclecs flowers, grouped into one of the umbrella. Characteristic lies in its fruits are large conical base, sometimes curved brown, with a length of 1.5 to 4.5 cm in diameter and 5 to 10 mm. Ribbon-shaped leaves, shiny color and consists of 4-10 pieces, is at the base of the stem to form roots rozel, with a
leaf midrib closed soil. On its rhizome elderly have many buds that become brown tubers or black. It was bitterness and smell fragrant. These bulbs are usually a family gathering.


Chemical Ingredients:
Teki roots contain alkaloids, cardiac glycosides, flavonoids and the oils evaporate 0,3-1% of the contents vary, depending on the origin of growth. Roots that originated from Japan contains cyperol, cyperene I & II, alpha-cyperone, cyperotundone and cyperolone, while originating from China contains patchoulenone and cyperene.

Uses:
Usually part of the drug is used as a tuber (rhizome). Purpose, among others as a powerful medicine, stomach medicines, drugs for urinary smooth, worming medicine, drugs and regulating menstruation, as the anti-sweat washing water, in the form of the cooking water as a remedy for mouth disease (mouthwash), toothache medicine (roots stick chewed or as a powder), and for ulcer drugs. In the area of Java, Root used as medicine Teki sour (anti-seizure) of diare. Oil fly found on these plants can prevent the growth of Staphy / Iococcus sureus, but some other organisms
growth can not be prevented  by this drug.

Other Uses:
1. Chest pain, sore ribs.
2. Pain during menstruation (Dysmenorrhea), irregular menses come (irregular menstruation) and diseases           in women (gynecological diseases).
3. Injury blow, bruise.
4. Skin itching, boils.
5. Bleeding and vaginal discharge.
6. In patients with swelling due to fluid retention (edema)
7. Interference digestive functions such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and abdominal pain.

Note:
- Exercise caution in patients with deficiencies "Yin" and the vital energy of the weak.
- The Indian community to use these plants for the treatment of dysentery, fever, hives (urticaria),                      alleviate  pain, vomiting, some blood diseases and menstrual irregularities.
